OPTICIAN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
∙ Greets all customers with a warm welcome right away, exchanges names, & ensures they know what to expect. Shows urgency in providing service to customers & satisfying their needs. ∙ Attracts new customers. Serve as the first point of contact for walk-in and phone customer. ∙ Take, record, and verify measurements, frame choice and adjustments thorough & exact in details; ensures finished eyewear meets standards & customer requirements.
∙ Explores the needs & priorities of customers by asking open ended questions. ∙ Communicate with new and existing patients either in person or on the phone regarding questions pertaining to their eyewear and new products available options are available for customers, (low vision needs, dispensing, up-to-date frame styles).
∙ Custom fits glasses & precisely place prescription in lenses.
∙ Adjust new frames and eyewear to create the perfect fit for every customer.
∙ Set aside frames for customers to revisit on subsequent visits.
∙ Track customer information in our secure database.
∙ Verify work orders checking for accuracy and completeness.
∙ Process returns for warranty work and process complimentary orders.
∙ Adjust and clean frames for returning customers.
∙ Manage frame boards. Clean frames after customers tryout and return to display. ∙ Process returns for warranty work and process complimentary orders.
∙ Recommend, dispense, and repair eyewear and assist with frame/lens repairs. ∙ Provide services to accommodate a one-hour service when patients are using existing frames. ∙ Prepare and review lens quotes.
∙ Assists co-workers with difficult or complex areas of product needs & prescriptions. ∙ Booking appointments for optometrist.
∙ Update price lists.
∙ Possesses the ability to multi-task, prioritize & manage time with competing priorities. ∙ Commits to delivery date & time, seeks feedback & asks for referrals.
∙ Ensure pride in store appearance, shows initiative to keep store clean, attractive & organized. Secures & protects c assets in your control.
∙ Informs management of safety opportunities; demonstrates safe work practices. ∙ Adheres to company policies & procedure, including but not limited to discounting, promotions & inventory management.
∙ Sells on your feet 80%-100% of the time.
∙ Additional duties may be assigned as needed (i.e. customer calls, dispensing eyewear, etc.). ∙ Maintains proper dress code.
∙ Working on weekend.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
∙ Provincial Licensure
∙ Optical dispensing experience
∙ Customer Services
∙ Knowledge of current store merchandise
∙ Basic math skills
∙ Awareness of current fashion trends
∙ Good understanding of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Powerpoint), computers & calculators ∙ Ability to communicate, both orally and in a written format, information at all levels of the organization is essential.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
∙ Previous customer service & retail experience (2 years)
∙ Bilingual is an asset.
∙ The incumbent will perform assigned job tasks with minimal supervision. Optician is responsible to ensure that all assigned tasks are completed on time and with accuracy.
