The Opticians Association of Canada (OAC) inducted Ontario Optician, Lorne Kashin, into the OAC Wall of Fame and presented this very well-deserved honor to Lorne at the Vision Canada Student Night in front of 150 guests. Thank you for all you do for the profession of Opticianry, Lorne. What an incredible honor it is to have you as part of the OAC Hall of Fame – OAC
Lorne was presented with this prestigious honour by OAC President Todd Smith.
As president of the Opticians Association of Canada, it is my honour to be the person who gets to present this year’s addition to our Wall of Fame. But, when I found out who I had to induct I panicked! Not surprising as I am not a public speaker. My mind suddenly went blank! What do I say about this person? THEN, so much came to mind. Now my task was to filter out what I should say and my mind was flooded with what to say.
I have had the pleasure to sit on the OAC board of directors, and the OAC executive with this year’s recipient for over ten years. He has been a mentor to me, and also to so very many others in many ways. Always been there for advice. Always reaching out a helping hand to who needs it. Always reaching out to help a province in need. Always ready to help his fellow Opticians. He does seminars for the OAC, and for continuing education all across Canada. But we cannot forget his contact lens expertise he shares with us too. As a business owner, a family man, and a greatly valued colleague and optician, I ask you to please take the time to read the many achievements Lorne Kashin has made to Ontario opticians, opticians across Canada, and also the Optical industry. Lorne could we have you come forward so we can present this to you.
